No one would have imagined this situation nearly two months ago. Aitor Karanka’s departure, the coach who managed to revive and launch the Middlesbrough to the highest English category, the Premier League.
A decision had to be made, and without him here, nothing made sense.
I am sorry I have to say farewell to a really special opportunity, which I have tried to savor from the very first moment. I will always feel grateful to Víctor Orta, as well as to Aitor Karanka and his staff. Besides, I would do it again.
You must take decisions in life and, despite the results, having the opportunity to live this has been wonderful to me. I have been lucky to meet goalkeepers of the stature of Víctor Valdés, which has proved to be an unforgettable experience.
Thanks to all the staff in the club, players… I would just want to wish them the best for the future. For their supporters and their history, they deserve to stay in the highest level.Details
